Hear from the Charity Commission about the rules and regulations in place to pay trustees including to carry out their duties as a trustee
About this event
At this free session you will get the opportunity to hear directly from the Charity Commission for England and Wales about the rules and regulations in place to pay trustees including to carry out their duties as a trustee; you will also hear from charities that pay some of their trustees in recognition that trusteeship would otherwise be less accessible to them.
Join us at 12.00 on 8th June to learn more about what the rules and regulations are around paying trustees to carry out their trustee duties and when and how to apply. You will hear from the Head of Policy at the Charity Commission who will explain what the Commission's policy position is on paying trustees; and a senior case worker from the Commission who will be able to talk through the process of applying to pay trustees.
In the second half of the session you will hear from some charities who have chosen to pay some of their trustees. They will talk through why they made this decision to pay and also the package of support they have put in place to ensure this is done in a meaningful and authentic way. Confirmed to speak are Safelives who have supported trustees with lived experience expertise in this way.
This session has been developed in recognition that financial recompense for time and expertise (in addition to expenses) can be an enabling factor to take on the role of a trustee, particularly for those for whom trusteeship would otherwise be less accessible for financial reasons. But this is set in a context that take up of this opportunity is currently low.
