PDSA Pet First Aid for Kids and Live Q&A
Event Information
About this Event
Our free 'Pet First Aid for Kids' taster session teaches children how to check an unconscious pet (in this session using a ‘soft toy’ patient) to see if they are breathing or have a pulse. We will also show them how they can support an adult who is performing CPR on a pet.
Parents will be taught how to perform CPR on their pet in an emergency situation.
There will be an opportunity following the demonstration for children (or parents!) to ask any questions they have about their pets or what it is like to work in a vets.
This event is open to all families and schools and parents are encouraged to join in with their children and their plush friend.
Please note: While we will make it very clear that this activity must only be done on soft toys and not real pets (unless in a real emergency situation where children can provide support to an adult), we would advise that a parent or guardian attends this event with their child.
The event is made up of a 5 minute overview of PDSA, a 15-20 minute demonstration and approximately 30 minutes for questions and answers.
We look forward to you joining us!
