About this session
Dealing with difficult situations and behaviour in school is a huge challenge. This session looks at ways in which mediation skills can help in reducing and resolving conflict, critical in supporting pupils wellbeing and progress.
This session walks you through the key principles and benefits of mediation and provides a practical framework to use withstaff and pupils and well as the Meta Minute that can help children think more carefully about their conflict resolution strategies.
Mediation can also be used to support positive communications with parents, especially when discussing sensitive issues.

Rachael Roberts
Rachael Roberts is a qualified teacher who has worked in worked in Education, both abroad and in the UK, for over 20 years.
Rachael’s aim and motivation is to support learners to have access to, and enjoy, holistic learning, to a level of personal challenge, fluency and independence.
Rachael has broad experience across a variety of roles in both Primary and Secondary Education, including working as an LSA, Mentor, TEFL teacher, SEND teacher, Alternative Provision and Mainstream teacher, undertaking SENCO work and Specialist Assessor work.
Rachael has delivered training for Schools, School Trusts and Local Authorities.
She holds qualifications in Counselling, Behaviour and Attendance and Civil and Commercial Mediation as well as Post Graduate Diploma in SPLD Dyslexia.
She manages a team in a SEND faulty in a large Secondary School.
