The Why, What, And How Of Peatland Restoration In The Outer Hebrides

If you’re interested in starting peatland restoration on your land, these two events are a fantastic opportunity to dispel the myths and get the facts.

Join us for a guided site walk to learn about peatland restoration in practice. Accompanied by peatland restoration experts from Peatland ACTION and Scottish Water, you will have the chance to see and discuss restoration techniques used and their benefits. In adverse weather conditions, a more sheltered version of the site visit with shorter walks to a selection of will be available.

Then, in the evening, join us at the Dark Island Hotel where we willcover all the essential information you need to get started with your project, plus some examples of how other people have found success doing the same thing.

The talk will give you an overview of the public funding and private financing available in Scotland, as well as the support that is available to help you apply for it. There will be a practical review of previously successful restorations on the isles, and presentations will be delivered by expert speakers from Peatland ACITION and Scottish Water, with a chance for Q&A after.

This will be a chance for everyone to gather all information they need, ask all the burning questions and foster a fruitful discussion. Teas, coffees and biscuits will be provided.

This is a two-part event, delivered in partnership with local experienced peatland restoration specialists and providing a unique opportunity for you to get all your questions answered.
