Pedalling a pedibus is teamwork and a fun packed challenge so people of all ages and abilities can take part. It’s a great way to meet people and enjoy the summer in London!

THE CAUSE

Poverty or Prostitution – What Would You Choose?

A hard question in the face of poverty, for some women this is not a choice but a duty they have to do for survival.

Women play an important role in supporting their households and communities; generating income, collecting food and water, and providing care for all family members. They contribute mostly to agriculture and fuel local and global economies. However, around the world, women face persistent hierarchal constraints that prevent them from fully enjoying their human rights and prevent them from improving their lives as well as those of others around them.

A woman will earn less than 40p a day in most African countries; this is earned by begging, odd jobs, prostitution etc. Forgotten Women want to give women the opportunities to run their own business where she can earn anything up to £60 – £80 a month, resulting in providing for her family and not resorting to methods where she feels degraded and exploited.

Women and girls spend 90% of their income on their families. Investing in them is the quickest and surest way to break the cycle of poverty. When you rebuild the life of one woman you build and entire generation.

“We aim to assist women where we can, saving them from starvation & sexual exploitation. We must all pull together and save the dignity of these women in countires where their screams and cries will not be heard.” Sundeep Bahia, CEO at Forgotten Women
