At Drill Hall, over two days, twenty maketrs will present an amazing diversity of wood products for visitors to browse and buy: exclusive designer furniture of all kinds, wooden sculpture, clocks, baskets, elegant storage. Smaller wooden items too: signage, jewellery, pens, puzzle boxes, jig-saws…and more. The versatility of wood is demonstrated by these many uses. Wood can be beautiful as well as useful, and many of the items you will see will demonstrate that
Alongside our makers, suppliers of native and exotic hardwoods will also be exhibiting, providing interest and inspiration of all who make in wood, and aspiring makers too. Wildlife and woodland related Charities will also be at the Woodmarket, publicising their work.
Special Features:
Don’t just look! Mesmerising Mechanisms is a special exhibition featuring a collection of wooden machines of various kinds. They demonstrate how the movement of ingenious mechanisms can produce fascinating results.... like a hedgehog riding a unicycle or the motion of balls in a complicated circuit. Visitor participation is mandatory... nothing happens until you turn the handle!
This year marks the return of the popular Puppet Show, a treat for younger visitors. The show will go on at several times throughout each day in a spacious room off the main Hall. Also in the room various talks on tree related topics will be held.
The Woodmarket Cafe will provide snacks and beverages on both days for our visitors in a cosy and comfortable setting.
In addition to the activities going on at the Drill Hall,there will be things happening outside on The Green. Activities will include the Scottish Conker Championship, Chain-saw Carving, and Green Aspirations.
