Peer Coaching Programme

Coaching for the professional development of teachers.

This programme is suitable for both primary and secondary teachers who are interested in furthering their understanding of coaching and mentoring.

Aims

Session 1

  • To explore what we think we know about mentoring aims, purpose and practices;
  • To develop critical reading and reflecting skills.

Session 2

  • To think about the qualities needed to be a coach or when we select people in school to be coaches;
  • To consider why in schools coaching sometimes fails;
  • To consider the skills required in listening and questioning in coaching;
  • To reflect on research – why are some people resistant to mentoring?

Session 3

  • To explore coaching people reluctant to change
  • Coaching models
  • Coaching forms
