Peer Learning for SPLWs: Covid-19 Vaccines & Vaccine Hesitancy
Event Information
About this Event
Do you feel like you could be doing more to help people access the right information about the Covid-19 vaccines?
Do you want to have honest conversations with your patients, but feel you need clear facts and information to do so?
Healthy London Partnership recently hosted a training session to support social prescribing link workers (SPLWs) coming in to contact with patients who are hesitant of or refusing the Covid-19 vaccine (click here to replay) and are now running a follow up session to enable more time for a Q&A and connect with each other.
Our Q&A panel members will be there to help address any challenges or concerns individuals may have or experienced.
With so much information out there; we want to provide an opportunity to increase SPLWs confidence in this subject and provide people with the tools that leave them feeling empowered to have better informed conversations with their patients.
Background:
Across the country, the roll out of Covid-19 vaccinations is fully underway. the NHS are successfully vaccinating people in the first phase priority groups, including at-risk groups and people with clinical conditions.
Many Social Prescribing Link Workers are playing a part in the vaccination programme by providing support in waiting areas, picking up referrals, and helping GP's proactively identify people at risk of not receiving a vaccination they are eligible for.
There are many reasons for hesitancy and refusal...
- a fear of needles,
- previous experiences,
- hearing mixed messages about the safety and effectiveness of vaccines,
- misinformation through social media platforms
- family members or friends sharing their concerns
...the reasons are vast and unique to each person.
