Event description

Description

Due to popular demand I am offering two more workshops for Peer Mentoring

This one is on Monday 16 Oct and the other (see other link) is on Tuesday 17 Oct

This is a workshop for Year 2 and 3 MHM (and postgrads if they wish) in Drama, English Literature and Language, History, and Journalism and Media who would like to train as peer mentors. Peer mentors act as mentors either to groups or individual students in the years below them (or occasionally in their own year). Peer mentors share informal advice and discuss problems with study on the basis of their own experience. Peer mentors are not counsellors and are not expected to deal with significant problems, but to signpost mentees to other help within the university such as personal tutors, Wellbeing and Disability team, or Students Union, if such issues arise. The training will cover the kinds of issues you may encounter, when to signpost to experts, and ethical practice as a peer mentor. Peer mentoring will develop your confidence and communication skills, and is an attractive addition to your CV, which signals to potential employers your willingness to take on responsibility.
