Hear about the Peer Researcher Methods used in a year-long study on access to psychological assistance for survivors of modern slavery
About this event
Survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking are often population upon which research is conducted. In this project, we worked closely with survivor of modern slavery as core members of the research team. This event will illuminate the methods we used to integrate survivors as peer researchers, and provide insight into the training provided through a Peer Researcher Development Program (PRDP). Attendees will also hear from several Peer Researchers about their experiences as research team members.
Although the Peer Research Methods were designed and implemented by a research team leading the STAR-WB (Survivors Transforming Anti-Slavery Research on Wellbeing) Project, peer researchers were engaged in 3 different research projects: Modern Slavery - Core Outcome Set, Impact of COVID on Kenyan Survivors, and STAR-WB.
Survivors of modern slavery involved in the project as Peer Researchers will be speaking alongside researchers based at the University of Birmingham, University of Nottingham Rights Lab and Survivor Alliance.
The event will run as follows:
10.00 - 10.20 - Welcome & housekeeping
10.20 - 11.05 - Overview of Peer Research methods
11.05 - 11.20 - Q&A
11.20 - 11.45 - Research panel response to findings
11.45 - 12.00 - Break
