The first draft of a Competence Framework for Mental Health Peer Support workers has been made public, initiating a month long public consultation. Alongside a group of partners from the Voluntary Sector and local NHS Trusts, we are co-delivering 3 focus groups to create discussion and get feedback.

The day will include general discussion about the framework followed by small group activities focusing on specific sections. All of the feedback on the day will be collated and fed back to the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health (NCCMH).

We are looking for people with lived experience of mental health difficulty, who live in or around London, and;

1. Hold or have previously held a peer support worker position in the NHS.

2. Currently or have previously been involved in, facilitated or led peer support either independently or with a voluntary/third sector organisation

3. Have experience of receiving support from a Peer Support Worker either in the NHS or through the voluntary/ third sector

This session will be co-delivered by Together and Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust .

Getting involved

For any person attending in a unpaid capacity, a £25 involvement fee will be offered and all reasonable expenses will be paid. Light refreshments will be available for all.

The framework will be part of the national commitment to develop and expand peer support worker roles to support the mental health workforce, as outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan and the Health Education England report, Stepping Forward to 2020/21: The Mental Health Workforce Plan for England.
