Description

Update 1 April: Registrations of interest have now closed. Anyone who has registered their interest up to 31 March has been contacted and provided with logistical details for the workshop. If you are currently not registered to attend the workshop but would be interested to do so, please email philip.ruck@ipieca.org - there are a few final places available.

IPIECA, in collaboration with IOGP and the United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), have launched a series of peer to peer training workshops on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BES) Management in the oil and gas industry. Following the success of the first workshop in Houston, October 2014, the workshop will continue to be delivered in different regions. This training is aimed at, and delivered by oil and gas industry professionals, and has been designed to be highly interactive to facilitate learning.

The objectives of the workshop series are to:

  • Provide a broad introduction to BES principles and provide fundamental training in the management of BES issues across the life-cycle of oil and gas operations, including screening, scoping, baseline assessment, impact assessment, management and mitigation, monitoring and reporting;
  • Increase awareness and uptake of the latest approaches, good practices and tools in the BES arena - in particular IPIECA, IOGP and UNEP-WCMC products, leading to improved performance of the sector in the management of BES issues, and;
  • Provide an opportunity to share practical examples from peers and learn from on-the-ground experience.

Paris workshop details:

  • Date: 23-24 April 2015 (Two-full days)
  • Location: Paris, France (hosted by Total)
  • Attendance: Registration is limited to oil and gas companies and free for IPIECA-IOGP members.
  • Target audience: HSE professionals, managers, practitioners (both at corporate and business unit level) and relevant field staff who deal with environmental/BES issues and their integration into business practices, processes and operations.

In the meantime, you can visit the workshop webpage which contains links to various useful resources for managing BES in the oil and gas industry, most of which will be referenced during the workshop.
