Description

An opportunity to learn about depression and how to support those living with depression and their families.

The day will include a clincial, a personal and a pastoral perspective of depression, a dramatic perspective to challenge stigma and an introduction to the work of PeerTalk.

What is Depression? Dr Jane Perera, a consultant psychiatrist with the NHS will give a clincial perspective of what depression is in easy to understand terms.

Clarke Carlisle, a former Premier League football player and former Chair of the Players Football Association will give a personal perspective of living with depression.

Supporting those living with depression, Stephen G Normanton will give a presentation on how individuals and communities can include and support people with mental health conditions.

Challenging stigma, a dramatic perspective: Acting Out Productions shine a spotlight on issues of well being and depression.

PeerTalk - Facing Depession Together, Rosa Trelfa will give an introduction to PeerTalk which aims to establish a national network of volunteer facilitated peer support group meetings for individuals who live with depression and thier families.

Is food included in the day?

We’ll provide coffees, teas and lunch. Once you’ve registered for the event please email admin@peertalk.org.uk with any dietary requirements.

Is there any child care?

Child care provision is available but MUST be booked in advance giving the name and age of the child, email admin@peertalk.org.uk

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Holiday Inn® Guildford hotel is situated less than two miles from the centre of Guildford, which can be reached in under 10 minutes by car. Guildford station is around a mile away, and trains reach London in about 30 minutes.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It's helpful if you can, but not compulsory
