About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Do you decide where you fit in or has that already been decided for you?

How do you prove your point in a society that questions "Are you sure it’s not all in your head?"

Author and Write On! contributor, Juneha Chowdhury, invites you to join this thought-provoking session to discuss how society perceives South Asian women and the idea of being boxed in.

Participants will have the opportunity to write about their own personal journey, navigating prejudice, alienation and discrimination through various interactive tasks throughout the session.

About Juneha:

Juneha Chowdhury is a former teacher and writer based in East London. She won the Pen to Print Book Challenge 2018 and writes regular articles for Pen to Print’s quarterly magazine Write On!

Juneha is currently in the process of editing her second unpublished novel and is hoping to get it traditionally published.

Pen to Print provided by Barking & Dagenham Libraries is working to build a network of support for aspiring writers in Barking and Dagenham.

We identify local writing talent and provide them with opportunities to produce quality writing for publication.

We publish our own suite of publications, Write On! our free quarterly print magazine, alongside Write On! Extra online and our Write On! Audio podcast

In addition to our main competition The Book Challenge we offer other free writing competitions, author events classes, workshops and other activity supported by established creative writing experts, authors and artists.

Our events are free and open to everyone and are designed to inspire and encourage writers, as well as providing entertainment to the wider reading public.

Pen to Print is supported using public funding by Arts Council, England funded by UK Government, as a Library National Portfolio Organisation .
