Description

From Foulridge Wharf we follow the canal to County Brook, then climb to Hill Top, before dropping back down to the canal at the other end of the Mile Tunnel and returning via Lake Burwain.

Start and finish at Foulridge Wharf (café and toilet facilities), then along the canal to County Brook (Stew Mill) and up to Hill Top. From there we follow Ball House Lane to Slipper Hill Reservoir (as known as Old Ebbies) and down to the Mile Tunnel entrance, then back around the shore of Lake Burwain.

Approximate length of walk: 6 miles

Walk grading: Hard - walks with some difficult terrain and hilly sections (1 – 9 miles)

Pace of walk: we will set a gentle pace with regular breaks to catch your breath and enjoy the view.

Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking. The weather can change rapidly so please bring waterproofs. Please also bring drinking water.

There is a car park at Foulridge Wharf. The village is served by bus services M1 (from Burnley, Nelson, Barnoldswick and Earby) and X43 (from Skipton and Manchester).

Please bring a packed lunch.

We will stop at a cafe for light refreshments during the walk.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
