Event description

Description

A pleasant ramble over fields and quiet lanes, through the West Craven area.

Starting in the Old Grammar School where there is limited parking, but it is a short distance from the bus station and town centre parking in Earby. Toilets and drinks are available. The walk is mainly through fields and tracks linking the towns and villages of Earby, Salterforth, Barnoldswick and Boothbridge. We will be looking at the local history of the area. There are some easy hills, some of the way may be muddy, and there will be stiles.

Approximate length of walk: 8 miles

Walk grading: Moderate - walks with gentle slopes and some stiles (1 – 6 miles)

Pace of walk: we will set a gentle pace with regular breaks to catch your breath and enjoy the view.

Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking. The weather can change rapidly so please bring waterproofs. Please also bring drinking water.

Free parking available in Earby town centre which is a short walk away from the start, limited parking is available at the Grammar School. The bus station is nearby.

Please bring a packed lunch.

This is a family friendly walk so the descriptions of the local history will be made easy for younger walkers to enjoy.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

Booking is essential for this walk. Please book a place through this website if you wish to take part.

Please ensure that if you arrive by car that you park considerately and pay any parking charges which are applicable.
