Description

Circular walk taking in Slipper Hill reservoir and the hills above Blacko village where there is an optional pub stop before returning via Watermeetings.

A slower paced walk up the Leeds Liverpool canal to one of the main reservoirs that feeds the canal from its highest point, then an uphill pull towards the village of Blacko where there is a short stop for lunch (pub optional) before returning via Watermeetings.

This is one of four walks starting from the Heritage Centre shortly after our launch event. You are very welcome to come and join us for complimentary tea and coffee from 10 am as we celebrate the launch of this year's festival with the Mayor of Pendle, Councillor Ken Hartley.

Approximate length of walk: 4 miles

Walk grading: Moderate - walks with gentle slopes and some stiles (1 – 6 miles)

Pace of walk: we will set a gentle pace with regular breaks to catch your breath and enjoy the view.

Approximate amount of ascent: 104 metres

Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking. The weather can change rapidly so please bring waterproofs. Please also bring drinking water.

Optional lunch at the Rising Sun pub or bring a packed lunch.

We will visit one of our country pubs for a refreshment break during the walk.

This is a family friendly walk and will include games, stories or “treasure” hunts to help children engage with the natural world and local history.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
