Description

A linear walk along old byways and footpaths over fields between these two ancient hamlets. Starting near Pendleside Hospice and passing through Fence en-route to Newchurch village and onto Barley. Time for stops along the way and chance to visit the church in Newchurch with its seeing eye. We wil finish in Barley where there may be time for a cuppa in the cafe or a beer in the pub before taking the 67 bus back to Nelson and then on Burnley Mainline back to the start point at Reedley. You will need some change for the bus.

Approximate length of walk: 6 miles

Walk grading: Hard - walks with some difficult terrain and hilly sections (1 – 9 miles)

Pace of walk: we will set a gentle pace with regular breaks to catch your breath and enjoy the view.

Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking. The weather can change rapidly so please bring waterproofs. Please also bring drinking water.

Mainline bus from Burnley or Nelson/Colne

NB. This is a Linear Walk.

Dogs are not allowed on this walk.

Please bring a packed lunch.

We will visit one of our country pubs for a refreshment break during the walk.

We will also stop at a cafe for light refreshments during the walk.

Booking is essential for this walk. Please book a place through this website if you wish to take part.
