Description

An easy paced walk along the Ferndean Way to the historic hamlet of Wycoller with the remains of Wycoller Hall with its Bronte connections and its aisled barn. Climbing out of Wycoller and returning with great views of Pendle via the hamlet of Winewall.

From Upper Ball Grove car park we leave following the Ferndean way by Colne Water and Wycoller Beck to the historic hamlet of Wycoller for a lunch stop. We return by climbing out of Wycoller towards Raven Rock and onwards via Germany Farm. Turning north and continuing overlooking Trawden and on through the hamlet of Winewall and back down to Cotton Tree and Ball Grove.

Approximate length of walk: 6 miles

Walk grading: Moderate - walks with gentle slopes and some stiles (1 – 6 miles)

Pace of walk: we will set a gentle pace with regular breaks to catch your breath and enjoy the view.

Approximate amount of ascent: 75 metres

Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking. The weather can change rapidly so please bring waterproofs. Please also bring drinking water.

Free parking and a café at the car park

Please bring a packed lunch.

We will stop at a cafe for light refreshments during the walk.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.
