Description

A walk to the summit of Weets Hill giving great views over Ribblesdale. Along the way we pass one of the farms associated with Malkin Tower, home to Old Demdike and her family who were condemned as Pendle Witches. Return along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

The walk begins at Foulridge Wharf and makes a gradual ascent to the summit of Weets Hill, one of Pendle's 3 Peaks. Along the way we pass Malkin Tower Farm, one of two sites in Pendle which claims to be the spot of Malkin Tower. Weets Hill gives great views towards Pendle and down Ribblesdale. We return along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Approximate length of walk: 9 miles

Walk grading: Hard - walks with some difficult terrain and hilly sections (1 – 9 miles)

Pace of walk: we hope to set a faster pace with only occasional breaks.

Please wear suitable footwear and clothing for walking. The weather can change rapidly so please bring waterproofs. Please also bring drinking water.

Please bring a packed lunch.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Booking is essential for this walk. Please book a place through this website if you wish to take part.
