Event description

Description

This is one of the final events in our Penryn Arts Festival Workshop Programme, led by Graham Taylor.

Come down to The Temperance Hall for an evening of clothing customisation; through embroidery, printing and applique. By creating your own modified t-shirt, you could become a member of the TRYBE.

This is a free workshop where all materials are provided and will include a community meal, please email info@fieldnotes.org.uk with any dietry requirements you may have.

TRYBE is a creative entity involved with the sense of trying to belong to subcultures, communities and trends through making garments that correspond to aspects or identifiers of these groups, TRYBE focuses on how to identify your voice and take possession of what you project to the world through the clothes on your back. The DIY aspect of this workshop informs the sense of TRYing to BE, making your way into an identity rather than purchase your way. This workshop forms part of a wider project: The Body Project which revolves around a question of ownership of one's body, how we possess ourselves and make ourselves look the way we want. It is interested in how different bodies can relate to each other, work together and identify each other within this process.
