Wed 14 September 2016, 08:45 – 15:45 BST
Bookings are now open for CVS Inverclyde‘s third sector conference 2016, People, Partnerships, Prevention. The conference will focus on the Public Sector Reform agenda, looking at how people and communities can be empowered to take on greater responsibility, work in partnership and help tackle inequalities, as it looks at early prevention and the benefits that can bring.
The annual conference features another line up of national speakers, coupled with informative, lively debate during a question and answer panel session and 12 workshop sessions. Wilma Bain, Inverclyde Council’s Corporate Director of Education, Communities and Organisational Development, will be joined in the speaker line up by Tam Baillie, Children & Young People’s Commissioner Scotland; Professor Ken Gibb, Director, Policy Scotland and Co-director of What Works Scotland; Derrick Pierce, Quality and Development Service Manager, Inverclyde HSCP; and Alex Meikle, Partnership Integration Facilitator, CVS Inverclyde.
Hosting the speaker session will be Annie Gunner Logan, Director with the Coalition of Care & Support Providers in Scotland, who will also facilitate the panel question and answer debate to round off the morning.
The range of afternoon workshops include sessions around changing the landscape of health and social care in Inverclyde, the implications of the Children’s & Young People’s Act, Brexit, good governance, procurement, volunteering and how HMP Greenock engages with communities. Also on the agenda will be the Community Empowerment Act and what it means locally, from asset transfers to participation requests. Rounding off the day, delegates can enjoy relaxation techniques and learn how to eliminate stress with holistic health practitioner and life coach, Gordon Anderson.
The Oak Mall Shopping Centre is supporting the conference.
