Description

A powerful performance showcasing music, dance and poetry created by displaced artists, Performance Migrations will take place in and around the refuge/e shelter installation at Millennium Galleries.

Featuring:

Arash Sabet: guitar, voice (Iran) Farsi & Gilaki songs; Angelina Abel: dance (Angola) rituals & celebration; Haymanot Tesfa: voice, krar (Ethiopia) tradition & trance; Bashar Farahat: poet (Syria) exiled dialogues; Mina Salama: oud, ney, voice (Egypt) music of the ancients; with local poets; Mimi Mesfin (Ethiopia); Vertaa Lune (DR Congo)

Performance Migrations 2017 will be produced by Arts on the Run www.artsontherun.org.uk, the regional hub of Platforma Arts & Refugees Network www.platforma.org.uk

Project Refuge/e is comprised of a touring Syrian refugee shelter from Lebanon filled with recorded interviews with displaced Syrians and furnished with castings in plaster and in brass of everyday possessions found in the camps.
