About Cat

Cat studied Drama at Hull University and worked professionally as an actor and a singer before discovering storytelling in 1998. Championed by the Hay Festival, she quickly established herself as one of the most exciting and distinctive voices in British storytelling.

As a performer, Cat is bold, magical and strong. She performs with extraordinary focus and intensity, and brings a distinctly female energy to the stage. Her career regularly takes her around the world, but she will still happily perform at a village fete for tuppence and a cream tea.

She is also a best-selling children’s author, with books translated into ten languages. Her latest book, The Hairy Marys, is a quirky school drama about fame, gender and the Suffragettes.

Cat lives near Stratford Upon Avon in a four hundred year old cottage. She is single and struggles with online dating, but it has given her countless stories, a full length one-woman show and eighty thousand words of memoir.
