Performing Arts : Learn the art of storytelling through the medium of animation
Retell the story of how a street-child named Toby helps Shakespeare to overcome his writer’s block
The South West is the world leader in telling stories through stop-frame animation. Share some of the techniques used at Aardman Studios (of Wallace and Gromit fame and a string of other films) to create a joint animation with professional animator, Angela Frankham www.theanimationworkshopbath.com.
Craft original models, background and objects and work with others to bring the story of The Boy and the Globe, by Tony Bradman, to life.
Benefits to children
Through engaging in a stop-frame animation project, children will understand how films are constructed and how working as a team is essential towards successful animation. They will enhance their communicate skills by sharing their ideas with others and through the medium of film.
Ideally, it would be best to sign up to the complete course as children would experience the whole project from inception to performance. However, each stand-alone workshop would be interesting and engaging in its own right and can be booked individually.
