Event description
Performing prehistory: Exploring Gesture and Experience through Bronze and Iron Age Finds

About this event

This year’s Later Prehistoric Finds Group (LPFG) Online Symposium will focus on the performative aspects of making, using, depositing, and studying Bronze and Iron Age finds. We will explore the gestures and experiences associated with everyday practices and repetitive acts, as well as extraordinary events. The themes include technique and gesture in making objects, tactility and functionality, performing identities through creating, using and depositing objects, the spectacle and experience of depositing objects, and performances associated with the study and interpretation of later prehistoric finds.

We are a group run by an enthusiastic band of volunteers, and we make no charge to join the group. We do have some running costs though, and have decided to ask for donations from those attending our symposium this year in order that we can continue to run the group, and keep it free for everyone. Eventbrite sets the minimum donation as £1. If you can make a small donation, please consider doing so, and order a ticket via Eventbrite. We recognise that people's circumstances are different, and donating may not be possible for everyone who would like to attend. We want to ensure that no-one will be excluded on the basis of not making a donation, so if you would still like to attend but cannot make a donation, please drop us an email at laterprehistoricfindsgroup@gmail.com to sign up for a free ticket. You can also use the same email to join the LPFG - it's free to sign up!

The symposium will be held over Zoom. A meeting link will be sent to registered attendees shortly before the event.
