This course is an end to end, integrated pathway that combines best practices in strategy, clinical evaluation and treatment (Periodontics), educational and procurement pathways.

A curated group of resources and dental teams that aim to help practices, survive, recover and sustain themselves, now and in the future regardless of the problems yet to come.

We are currently looking to register practice teams consisting of;

GDP (Principal),

Hygienist/Therapist,

Lead Nurse/PM (3 individuals per dental practice) Total Fee per practice £1500

24 Hours vCPD Total per attendee to We invite you to please register initial interest as a team and individually.

This course is aimed at the whole dental team.

Additional to the 3 days, a further whole practice team day for your practice will be scheduled around 4 weeks later on a Saturday (TBC). CPD 8/24

Day 1

Title: Communication with Patients- a team approach.

Speakers: Kevin Rose supported by Ope Sodeinde

Day 2

Title: Contemporary Diagnosis and Management of Common Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases

Speaker: Ope Sodeinde

Aims

1. To gain an understanding of common periodontal and peri-implant diseases

2. To gain an understanding of the relationship between periodontal and systemic diseases

3. To gain an understanding of the risk factors, aetiology, and prevalence of periodontal and peri-implant diseases

4. To gain a deep understanding of periodontal probing around teeth and implants

5. To gain an understanding of the healing events in a periodontal pockets and the prognosis of non-surgical and surgical periodontal techniques. These will be discussed with reference to:

a. Horizontal defects

b. Vertical defections

c. Furcation defects

d. Perio-endo lesions

6. To gain an understanding of the new periodontal classification as an excellent tool in communication with patients and each other.

7. To gain an understanding of why the whole team needs to be involved in giving the same message on periodontal health

8. To gain an understanding of a periodontal pathway that leads to excellence in the management of periodontal and peri-implant diseases.

Objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

1. Diagnose common periodontal and peri-implant diseases effectively

2. Carry out effective periodontal/peri-implant probing by understanding the limitations of probing

3. Use a UNC-15 and Naber’s probe effectively

4. Assess patients’ risk of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and give personalised advice

5. Be able to no when to use adjuncts to non-surgical periodontal therapy

6. Give effective oral hygiene instruction with primary emphasis on toothbrushing, interdental cleaning with brushes and thick floss around implants

7. Discuss the prognosis of non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy with confidence

8. Use our periodontal pathway which establishes clearly defined roles for all members of the dental team in the management of periodontal diseases

Day 3

Title: Advanced Periodontal Instrumentation for GDPs and DHTs

Speaker: Ope Sodeinde

Aims

1. To gain a practical understanding of the difficulty of obtaining accurate periodontal records

2. To gain an understanding of the use of ultrasonics (piezons and Cavitrons)

3. To gain an understanding of the importance of having various ultrasonic tips and the importance of check wear

4. To gain an understanding of the use of site-specific hand instruments and how to sharpen these instruments

5. To gain an understanding the role of abrasive compressed air systems supra and subgingivally.

Objectives

By the end of the course, the delegates will be able to:

1. Carry out a six-point pocket chart on a model

2. Competent users of ultrasonic and Gracey curettes on models

3. Competent users of the W&H supra and subgingival air polishing devices.
