This Masterclass will explore personal leadership and responsibilities of a manager, and encourage managers to be aware of their own styles and methods and how they affect their team’s performance.

Self-awareness is defined as the ability to reflect on and accurately assess one’s own behaviours and skills as they are manifested on the job. It is an important ability for achieving leadership excellence. Enhanced self-awareness leads to higher levels of personal performance.

During the Masterclass, participants will be able to reflect and put under scrutiny their leadership behaviours and mind-sets, developing new and alternative approaches to support their personal leadership development and role as a manager, using recognised frameworks, models and practical examples. They will be able to transfer their learning back into the workplace easily and effectively.

This Masterclass is complimentary with 'Building an Effective Team, Successful Communications and Engagement' and 'Basic Business Planning and Performance Monitoring' Masterclasses'.

Session Content

The Masterclass content will cover:

  • Evaluation of your leadership qualities against a recognised framework and finding out what that means for you and those you manage

  • Self-reflection of your own leadership in the context of your role as manager

  • Review of line management responsibilities and discovering what makes an effective manager

  • Action planning the next steps in your development and applying these learnings

Who is the masterclass for?

This Masterclass is for all growing SMEs within the Sheffield City Region, as long as the below eligibility criteria is met.

It is primarily for those who have taken on a management role for the first time or those who aspire to do so. It will be equally useful for managers who have been in their role for some time and would like to refresh their skills and knowledge.

Who is leading it?

This Masterclass will be delivered by Debbie Greatorex from Ltd. Debbie has over 35 years’ experience working first as an operational frontline manager, managing a team of 20 people and in the last 15 years as a Talent Manager and Organisational Development Business Partner, where she managed a team of development staff at sites across the country.

During her time as an OD professional Debbie worked with senior teams to identify where OD activities would improve and support the strategic direction of the business.

As an independent consultant and trainer, Debbie has worked with many organisations across the public and third sector developing and delivering leadership and management programmes.

Debbie has operational management qualifications, a masters in leadership and management and is a qualified post 16 teacher (Cert Ed) and assessor.

Debbie’s personal skills include Coaching, Mentoring, Action Learning facilitation and training, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Insights Practitioner and 360 facilitator and trainer. She is also skilled in gap analysis for both individuals and teams, leaders and management development programmes.


Only one registration per business via Eventbrite will be confirmed. If additional people from your business would like to attend, they can be added to a waiting list by emailing with the business name, name of additional attendee and contact telephone number. If this Masterclass isn’t fully subscribed upon the closure of registrations, we will contact you to offer the additional place. The waiting list will be prioritised on a first come first served basis. Businesses that register more than one attendee via Eventbrite will be contacted and asked to nominate one person to attend.

We are pleased to be able to provide this masterclass free of charge due to funding from the European Regional Development Fund. There are a number of eligibility criteria for attendees which we will check using the online registration questions and in a phone call to every attendee prior to the event.


Q/ Is there anything I need to prepare in advance or bring with me on the day?

A/ During the Masterclass we will discuss leadership and management styles. It would be helpful if prior to attending, you could reflect on their own leadership and management successes and challenges and be prepared to share some of your experiences with the group.
