Description

Summary

Developing personal workplace resilience is an important competency for today’s archive and heritage sector leaders. These skills and techniques play a key role in enabling people to survive and thrive in today’s demanding work environment.

This one-day workshop has been specifically designed to enable archives leaders to enhance their resilience and that of their colleagues.

Who should come to this?

The events will be for everyone working in the archive sector including, public, independent and voluntary organisations, HE, businesses and all others with an interest in preserving our national heritage, supporting our information economy and strengthening the culture sector.

This course is suitable for people within management roles or looking to move into a management role in the future.

Learning objectives

In summary, you will leave the workshop with the following:

  • A clear understanding of the concept of workplace resilience

  • Clear and compelling goals and enhanced self-awareness relating to your workplace resilience

  • Knowledge of resilience skills and techniques, and enhanced skills in key areas

  • Resources to use after the workshop, which will help you continually improve your resilience

  • A commitment to changing habitual behaviours

  • A resource of peers to support future improvement

Nature of the Workshop

The workshop comprises a taster of many of the key skills and techniques involved in achieving workplace resilience. We will give a short summary of the skill or technique and why it is useful and then coach you to practice (in the safe ‘bubble’ of the workshop!). In this way the workshop is more like a group coaching session than a traditional training course.

Throughout the workshop we will use behaviour change techniques to support you to generate tangible changes in the way you work. We will also encourage you to develop peer relationships (with others on the workshop and peers back in the workplace) to support your continual personal development.

Prior Knowledge

Our research and observation tells us that you will probably already have resilience skills, perhaps without knowing it! The goal of this workshop is not to learn new concepts; it is to develop your self-awareness and pass on some tips so that you can become more resilient, more of the time.
