Event description

Description

In the upcoming local council elections, we know that every vote for Labour will count. We need to persuade people why local democracy is important so that they turn out to vote for Labour in May.

We are going to be running a 'persuasive conversations' training for activists on how to have really effective conversations on the doorstep as part of our campaign. This training is relevant to both new and experienced activists, and will look at how to best communicate our political ideas to the broad spectrum of people we meet when out canvassing.

This method of door-knocking was inspired by the Bernie Sanders campaign, and was delivered to more than 5000 activists during the General Election by Momentum, which lead to Labour winning seats in previously unheard of parts of the country.

Come along for our persuasive conversations training, followed by a door-knocking session in East Dulwich. Then join us in the pub after to debrief about what we learnt!

The training will be led by Holly Rigby, political education officer in Camberwell Green, and activist with Momentum who worked with the Bernie Sanders activists to design the training that will be delivered on the day.

Please note that due to limited capacity, priority will be given to local Labour Party members in Goose Green, East Dulwich, South Camberwell, Rye Lane and Camberwell Green wards.
