Perth and Kinross Remembers First World War Conference
Throughout the commemorative period it has been the objective of Perth and Kinross Remembers to support and promote numerous and varied local First World War projects. These projects have been carried out by local societies, history groups and enthusiasts, schools, artists, community ventures and many more. The conference is a forum for these groups and individuals to present their work and research to an interested and enthusiastic audience.
In addition to the one day conference our keynote speaker will be the celebrated local author and broadcaster Trevor Royle. Drawing on his tremendous knowledge of the Great War period he will be looking at the experience of the young men who signed up in this area – the human aspects of the war and the formulation of regiments. He will explore the resilience of people who were faced with signing up and how, for many, the war offered a distinct change, a shift away from the lives they had known and how for some it may have been an exciting opportunity.
Please join us for this conference which has a unique local emphasis in exploring all aspects of the First World War.
