In 1945 a one-armed ex-serviceman with a love of the theatre mounted two unsuccessful productions in London's West End. Over the next thirty years Peter Daubeny was to open up the post-War London stage to international performances ranging from flamenco to Bertolt Brecht's Berliner Ensemble. His achievements culminated in the World Theatre Seasons.

This is a celebration of a man who did more than most to revolutionise post-War British theatre, whose name should come readily to the lips of every theatre enthusiast. It is illustrated with readings from Daubeny's 1971 book of reminiscences 'My World of Theatre'.

Meet me outside the Kingsway entrance to the Church of St Anselm and St Cecilia. The nearest station is Holborn Underground (turn left into Kingsway).

The walk will take approximately two hours, and finishes on Denman Street, near Piccadilly Circus Underground Station. For information on travel, please use Transport for London's Journey Planner.
