Event description

Description

Handcraft your own pewter keyring using traditional metalwork skills!

Join Ella McIntosh on her award winning pewtersmithing workshop where you will use the unusual natural material of cuttlefish to create a mould before pouring molten pewter, a shiny metal, to reveal your design. Then finish your keyring with metalwork tools and techniques before taking them home.

Ella will guide you through the process from start to finish and provide lots of design inspiration. The class is suitable for beginners, budding creatives and those who have previously tried silver or jewellery making (age 16 upwards).

Places are limited and cost £10 per person.

Ella McIntosh has been a full-time pewtersmith for six years, having initially trained as a Silversmith at Buckingham University, specialising in pewter in her second year and continuing her training through work experience at Wentworth Pewter, Sheffield. In her studio based at Manchester Craft and Design Centre, Ella handcrafts her contemporary pewter table and home ware using traditional metalwork techniques and processes which have been handed down through generations of makers. Ella enjoys sharing her passion for pewter and was delighted to be awarded a Creative and Cultural Skills Award in 2018 as well as having her work recognised by the Worshipful Company of Pewterers in 2006 and 2016.
