Event description

Description

We invite our research community to join us for the PGCARMS* Public Engagement Module end of year presentations on Wednesday 24th July 2019.

A cohort of students will giving short presentations on public engagement activities linked to their research as part of the assessment of the PGCARMS Public Engagement module 2019. We are opening up the session to allow others to draw inspiration and learning from hearing about these projects.

University of Birmingham researchers, staff and students are welcome to attend for whole/part of the session. **NB** Students will be undergoing assessment, therefore it is imperative that anyone joining the sessions does so in a respectful, quiet way so as to not distract speakers.

Presentations will be taking place between 12:00 - 15:00, with a buffet lunch on arrival and you can drop-in at any time.

PER Team - Environmental Statement

In accordance with the University of Birmingham sustainability policies, The Public Engagement with Research (PER) Team want to minimise our impact on the environment and better integrate environmental values and sustainability into our work. For example, last year (April 2018 – April 2019) non-attendance without cancellation at our events resulted in over £1,500 of food waste.
Therefore we ask that you work with us to help minimise waste and environmental impact by:
  • Letting us know if you need to cancel attendance, where possible at least 48hrs in advance, so that we may amend catering orders
  • Being mindful whilst at events to return rented glassware and crockery, appropriately dispose of compostable or recyclable items and only filling your plate as full as your appetite
We hope that small steps like this will enable us to continue to offer a high level of service to all whilst being kinder to the planet.

*PGCARMS = Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Research Methods and Skills (PGCARMS) for postgraduate researchers.
