PGR Workshop - The benefits and versatility of comics in research
Overview
IAS Residential Fellow Dr Gemma Sou delivers a workshop for Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs) -
Have you ever thought about translating your research into a comic? Or ever thought about using comics as a creative method to gather data? In this workshop you will learn how to do just that. We will think about the benefits and versatility of comics in research, the language and conventions of comics, deciding which findings to communicate, writing the script, choosing and working with an illustrator, participatory scripting, and developing characters. Comics present an opportunity to make research more participatory, to gather new and unexpected data, to create more ethical representations of participants and their contexts, and to release your creativity. This workshop will be for those researching various topics who are interested in creatively narrativizing their work.
Arrivals from 10:45 am for a 11:00 am start.
