Event description
PHE are delighted to be hosting the 2nd South West Public Health Ethics Forum, funded by South West Population and Public Health Academy.

About this Event

This is a special opportunity to hear from experts in the field of public health ethics and law and have the chance to discuss these issues with a range of colleagues from across the South West.

There will be opportunities to discover more about the developing field of Public Health Ethics and also to explore issues of prioritisation and resource allocation, using practical tools and frameworks to guide discussions and decision-making in these areas.

The morning session will look at the role of Public Health, and the developing field of Public Health Ethics, as distinct from Biomedical Ethics, with discussion around the arguments against Public Health and the ‘Nanny State’.

The afternoon will look more closely at the issues of prioritisation and resource allocation, and introduce some more practical examples of tools and frameworks to guide discussions and decision-making in these areas.
