Description

2nd Big Feet for Baby Feet Event

A little about the charity you will be supporting:-

Philip’s Footprints are best known for giving baby loss memory boxes to families who sadly lose a baby. But for the last 2 years we have also been funding our Safer Pregnancy Projects. Every km you cycle will raise funds for these projects, as better antenatal training, education and equipment can reduce the premature and stillbirth rate and reduce complications at birth, giving Jersey babies the best start in life.

THE CHALLENGE:

Venue: Starting in the Departure Hall of Jersey Airport and well, ending there too!

Event: A static distance challenge open to 12 teams of 6.

Date: The Cycle Challenge starts runs from 06:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday 25 July at 6am - each team of 6 will cycle for 55 minutes and have a 5 minute changeover.

Registration fee: £60 per team, team captain to register.

12 teams will participate with a prize to both the team and individual that cycles the farthest but also a special prize for the biggest fundraiser! (We know a Tuesday is not the obvious choice, but there is lots of foot traffic from regional flights and at the weekend the departure hall is just too busy. We hope you can still support us.)

We will provide: turbo trainers, refreshments, lots of encouragement, our eternal gratitude for your support and publicity for your team/club.

You must bring: Each team will need to bring their bikes, a bike computer to record their distance and a determination to win!

Thanks to: We are very grateful to the ongoing support of Ports of Jersey. Parking in the Long Stay Carpark will be FREE for participants and Ports of Jersey staff will be there during the day to give you some encouragement, shake buckets and raise funds from passengers. Funds raised for us by Ports of Jersey is also matched by them.

Fundraising: We are registered on https://www.justgiving.com/philipsfootprints which is a very simple way to set up a fundraising page. We would be very grateful if each participant fundraised even £10 each for us.

There are 1,000 babies born in Jersey each year, and your donations will support vital and critical training for maternity health professionals, educational information to pregnant women and antenatal equipment. If you work for a company that matches funds please let them know you are fundraising for us!

For any further information please email jo@philipsfootprints.org or telephone 631173.

A little more about us:-

Philip’s Footprints aims are twofold. Firstly, to support on average 15 families each year who sadly lose a baby in the Maternity Unit, Rayner Ward (Gynaecology) and Robin Ward (Pediatric) for older babies or children. We offer memory boxes filled with memory making items, keepsakes and support literature and offer peer support and remembrance opportunities to families affected by the loss of a baby (at any gestation) or child, no matter how long ago.

Secondly, and what has become the bigger part of what we do, our “Safer Pregnancy Projects” fund initiatives which include high quality antenatal training, education for pregnant mums and antenatal equipment.

Our objectives are to raise awareness of monitoring your babies movements, pregnancy complications and to increase corporate sponsorship and donations to fund our Safer Pregnancy Projects. Over 100 babies are admitted to Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) each year in Jersey and better antenatal training and equipment can reduce not only the premature birth and stillbirth rate, but can also the number of complications at birth. We are the only charity funding cutting edge antenatal training for health professionals and providing educational material to raise awareness of stillbirth and pregnancy health problems. This is a critical time for funding as requests the Maternity Unit have increased each year as their budgets are cut.
