Event description

Description

Join us for convivial conversations around philosophy and life at Subplot 57 underneath Leaf and Groove on the final Wednesday of every month (apart from May). There is a bar available during the evening where you can purchase soft drinks, wine, beer and gin. Drinking and thinking with new friends.

In May we will be thinking about Epicurus and Epicurean philosophy.

Epicurus was an ancient Greek philosopher who established his own school, known as "the Garden", in Athens. For Epicurus, the purpose of philosophy was to attain the happy, tranquil life, characterized by ataraxia—peace and freedom from fear— and aponia—the absence of pain— and by living a self-sufficient life surrounded by friends.

Come and find out more about his philosophy and legacy with friendly conversations and delicious drinks. There may even be cake this month. To help absorb the gin. Although if we're being Epicurean about it we'll need to make the cake together.

"Loved the event last night and we're looking forwards to next month. I’m really glad the gin is such good quality, I had several of them but don’t feel half as wooly headed this morning as I deserve…"

Subplot 57 is underneath Leaf and Groove and unfortunately there is no step free access.
