In the run up to World Philosophy Day on November 17th, The Philosophy Foundation will be holding a series of events for the local community. We'll be using World Philosophy Day as an opportunity to bring people together to discuss the theme of community by exploring questions related to identity, politics, and current issues in education and the media, such as the importance of ‘British values’, and even Brexit.
On the 5th November there'll be a philosophy flash mob (we will bring the beards and togas!) organised by The Philosophy Foundation and carried out by children from local schools in Forest Hill.
From 7th – 17th November, there will be an opportunity to follow a philosophy trail around shops in Forest Hill to find the questions hidden by the flash mob, and on the 17th November there will be a free after school event for parents and children at Forest Hill Library.
If you would like your child to be involved in the flashmob please book a ticket for them here.
We will meet your children at 11am outside Forest Hill Library. The children will then visit participating shops in the Forest Hill area, accompanied by members of The Philosophy Foundation team, to hide the philosophical questions the children have come up with in school. The children will then be brought back to the library at 12.00pm to be collected by parents.
