Blackwell's is delighted to present our free monthly philosophy event, Philosophy in the Bookshop. This month, Nigel Warburton will be in discussion with Richard Scholar on the topic of Richard latest book 'Montaigne and the Art of Free Thinking'.

Richard is the Professor of French and Comparative Literature at the University of Oxford, was awarded a Philip Leverhulme Prize in 2007 and was made Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques by the French Government in 2008. 'Montaigne and the Art of Free Thinking' explores the work of Michel de Montaigne and his Essais, which have marked literature and thought since the European Renaissance and remain to this day compelling reading.

Nigel Warburton is a freelance philosopher, podcaster and writer. His book 'A Little History of Philosophy' has sold over 2,000 copies in this bookshop alone since it's publication. Nigel has written an array of philosophy books including the 'Very Short Introduction on Free Speech', 'Thinking from A to Z' and 'Philosophy the Classics', as well as being the co-author of the successful 'Philosophy Bites' series that accompany the popular podcast Philopshy Bites.
