Philosophy of Science and Science Education
Wed 2 November 2016, 16:30 – 18:30 GMT
Explore how philosophy of science relates to science education with academic experts at the University of Bristol. The workshop will feature an informal presentation by Professor James Ladyman (Director of the Centre for Science and Philosophy), followed by an opportunity to discuss with academics and other teachers how Philosophy of Science can inform science teaching in schools. The workshop will also cover how Philosophy of Science topics can be taught in science lessons such as "what is science?", the reliability of science and the scientific method. The discussions will feed into a larger project on Philosophy of Science and Science Education that will run throughout 2017, more information will be shared about this on the day. This workshop is primarily aimed at science teachers in secondary schools, but all are welcome.
Refreshments will be provided.
