Event description

Description

This is philosophy but NOT as you know it!

Throw yourself into a free flowing evening of improvisation where two leading philosophers will riff on whatever you want to ask about, from anteaters to zabaglione, Kim Kardashian to the colour yellow. Sometimes deadly serious, usually very funny, this evening is your chance to steer a unique course through the history of ideas.

The School of Life’s Professional philosophers, Mark Vernon and Robert Rowland Smith’s improvised freestyles through philosophy, religion, psychology, triggered by single word topics suggested by members of the audience, made for one of the most entertaining and educational hours we have enjoyed at Fora Central Street.

The School of Life was founded by philosopher Alain de Botton, in collaboration with writers, artists and educators, to teach emotional intelligence and how to live wisely and well. They look at ways to make work, relationships and day-to-day challenges more fulfilling. These classes are devised by leading authors, artists, actors and academics, combining their own experiences with ideas from great thinkers of the past to offer participants intelligent and playful ways to interpret the world, and their place within it.
