14th July: David Bodanis in conversation with Julia Neuberger on 'The Art of Fairness'
Can good guys win? In his latest book, The Art of Fairness – The Power of Decency in a World Turned Mean, best-selling author David Bodanis sets out four principles, illustrated by stories from the worlds of medicine, business, the media politics, the military, showing that greatness doesn’t necessarily mean crushing displays of power or a tyrannical ego. As The Sunday Times concluded in their review, David is a superb storyteller, and this book is a cheering, timely, inspirational reminder that we can succeed without losing our souls.
David’s previous books include the New York Times bestseller E=mc² which was adapted into the Channel 4 documentary Einstein’s Big Idea. He has been a popular speaker at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Julia Neuberger is Chair of University College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Chair of The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust. She was Senior Rabbi of the West London Synagogue until March 2020 and is now Rabbi Emerita. She regularly appears on BBC Radio 2’s Pause for Thought.
Among her books are Not Dead Yet (a manifesto for old age), and Is That All There Is? Her latest book Antisemitism: What It Is, What It Isn’t, Why it Matters was published in 2019.
In 2004 Julia was created a life peer as Baroness Neuberger, of Primrose Hill.

Those who purchase an Online ticket, will be able to arrange collection or postage of your book with www.primrosehillbooks.com who are supplying the books for all the lectures, donating a percentage of these sales to St Mary's.
Speakers will be signing books at the end of the event.
All lectures start at 7pm followed by a live Q&A. Approximate finish time is 8.30pm.
Proceeds are in aid of St Mary’s church - a vital base for outreach services to vulnerable local people, including the elderly, the homeless and young people at risk.

Full Series tickets will only be available up until the 2nd Lecture in the series after that tickets will only be available individually.
Single lecture: £12/£10 concessions (OAPs, unemployed, students)

Online Live-Streaming ticket: £10 (You will be emailed a link, ahead of the event, to watch the talk live-streamed via YouTube)

COVID: This year’s lectures will be run in line with government Covid guidelines, at a reduced capacity, which means a mixture of in-person and live-stream tickets will be available. In the event of Covid restrictions tightening and it proving impossible to have an audience in the Church, all talks will move online and you will be offered a partial refund, or a full refund should you no longer wish to hear the talk.

Ticket Availability: Ticket sales will be online until Noon on the day of the lecture and after that, on the door, subject to availability.
Refund Policy: We allow refunds up to one day before the event. On sold-out events, we may be able to accept refunds after this time if we have a waiting list for people awaiting returns.

We are a non-profit organisation run by volunteers: the money we raise goes towards valuable community work - including vital local services for the homeless, vulnerable young people and the elderly - and the upkeep of the building that hosts them.
