Kate Bingham in conversation with Mishal Husain on 'Inside the Vaccine Taskforce'.

Kate Bingham has spent 30 years in biotech investing, which has resulted in the launch of six drugs for the treatment of patients with inflammatory and autoimmune disease and cancer, and played an active role in setting up the Dementia Discovery Fund.

In May 2020 Kate was appointed Chair of the UK Vaccine Taskforce in 2020, reporting to the Prime Minster to lead UK efforts to find and manufacture a COVID-19 vaccine. It was a six month engagement and she stepped down as Chair in December. On December 8th 2020 the UK started COVID-19 vaccinations – the first Western country to do so.

Kate played an active role in setting up the Dementia Discovery Fund and has helped launch drugs for inflammatory and autoimmune disease and cancer.

In 2017, Kate won the BioIndustry Lifetime Achievement Award. She serves on the Board of the Francis Crick Institute.

At weekends she spends time in Wales where she rides horses and mountain bikes, grows vegetables and competes in bog snorkelling competitions.

Organiser Primrose Hill Lecture Series

Organiser of PHLS 2021: Kate Bingham in conversation with Mishal Husain

For almost 20 years, The Primrose Hill Lecture Series has been exploring, and debating, some of the most important issues we face as a modern society. We are now recognised as one of London’s leading spaces for bold, lively and informative talks.

We are a non-profit organisation run by volunteers: the money we raise goes towards valuable community work - including vital local services for the homeless, vulnerable young people and the elderly - and the upkeep of the building that hosts them.
