23rd June: Leroy Logan in conversation with Natasha Beckles 'Closing Ranks - Vital lessons in race relations from a former Met Superintendent'

Leroy Logan is a former superintendent in the Metropolitan Police and a founding member of the Black Police Association Charitable Trust.

In Closing Ranks, Leroy describes his 30 eventful years policing around London. This revealing book is a vital lesson in race relations for modern-day Britain, a manifesto for anyone with a desire to mentor young people, and was the inspiration for Steve McQueen’s recent highly-acclaimed film Red, White and Blue.

Born in 1957 to Jamaican parents, Leroy is a proud Londoner, a staunch Gooner, an advocate for good relationships between the police and Britain’s minority ethnic communities, a mentor to young people, and an advisor on knife crime.

Revd Natasha Beckles is a curate, educator, organisational culture and leadership consultant, and an independent adoption-fostering panelist. She has been licensed by the Bishop of Edmonton to consider youth ministry and contextual safeguarding practice.

Natasha has improved educational outcomes for excluded communities through inclusive teaching practice and innovative curriculum design. She spent the last decade as an Assistant Head-teacher and Inclusion Manager serving the Broadwater Farm Estate in Tottenham, where she is credited with establishing an outstanding inclusion ethos, training, systems and practice.

Organiser Primrose Hill Lecture Series

Organiser of PHLS 2021: Leroy Logan in conversation with Natasha Beckles 'Closing Ranks

For almost 20 years, The Primrose Hill Lecture Series has been exploring, and debating, some of the most important issues we face as a modern society. We are now recognised as one of London’s leading spaces for bold, lively and informative talks.

We are a non-profit organisation run by volunteers: the money we raise goes towards valuable community work - including vital local services for the homeless, vulnerable young people and the elderly - and the upkeep of the building that hosts them.
