Recognising the professional development
needs of STEM club leaders.
This free, twilight course is intended for anyone who is currently running or is considering running any kind of extra-curricular STEM club. This course will enable you to:
- set up your own STEM club
- draw on the experiences of others whilst planning STEM club activities
- build robust strategies for dealing with any challenges your STEM club may face
The advice, support and insight you will have acces to on this course is drawn from the collected experiences of the members of the STEM Clubs Network. Your trainer, Tom Llewellyn from Phoenix School, will guide you through this whilst addressing your own individual needs.
In order to get your club off the ground, this session will also introduce you to the catapult challenge. Schools will be provided with materials, missiles and an activity pack to enable their club to design and construct a catapult. You will then be invited to take part in a challenge day at Phoenix school to see who can
- Launch a missile the furthest
- Hit a target with the greates accuracy
- Have the best designed missile
Free catapult making materials provided to state secondary schools taking part in the challenge.
Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.
