Event description
Delegates attending this CPD will explore a variety of strategies to take back to the classroom to enhance the teaching of phonics.

About this Event

For phonics teaching to be highly effective, practitioners must have secure subject knowledge and a clear understanding of phonological progression. This interactive online workshop will cover the relevant subject knowledge and progression for teaching phonics. Included in the workshop will be games and activities to teach and practise concepts, as well as ideas for the application of phonics within discrete sessions and across the curriculum.

You will receive in advance all the handouts and resources for you to fully participate and during the sessions, participation tools will be used such as practical activities, breakout groups for discussion and opportunities for questions throughout.

Participants will:

  • Become familiar with the subject knowledge and terminology associated with teaching phonics
  • Understand the progression in phonics teaching and children’s acquisition of the relevant knowledge and skills
  • Explore practical games, activities and approaches for discrete phonics teaching and its application to reading

Please note this course is now online. Joining details and any resources will be sent to delegates in advance of the course.
