Explore and photograph your surroundings in leafy Calderstones Park .

About this Event

Photography Adventures in Nature introduces participants to the use of traditional hands-on photographic techniques as a way of creating unique artistic images in response to the beautiful surroundings of Calderstones Park, in a relaxed and more mindful way.

Suitable for complete beginners who are new to photo making.

Tuesdays from 11 February to 21 April, 15:00 - 17:00, £160 for 10 week course.

Programme

Explore and capture your surroundings in Calderstones Park in Photographic Adventures in Nature.

Over 10 weeks, participants will embark on:

●Photowalks, cyanotype photograms, processing black & white film)

●Use enlarged negatives produced from photowalks to create a range of digital negative cyanotypes

●Forage for flora and foliage around the Calderstones site to create dyes for use in experimental ‘Film Souping’ (adding/painting different substances to film before shooting or during processing)

●Pinhole camera building & shooting on site in nature

●Paper negative darkroom tray printing

●Experiment with Caffenol, using alternative, everyday substances to process film i.e. coffee and vitamin C

●Mini-exhibition (physical & online) of work produced during course

Tutor: Rachel Brewster-Wright. Rachel is a professional photographer and founder of Little Vintage Photography in Liverpool. She has expert knowledge in both analogue and digital photography and has taught a multitude of photography courses and workshops.

Materials

You will need to bring your own film camera and rolls of film (Ilford HP5+ film, 24 exposures is ideal - usually around £4.50 per roll). All other chemicals and photographic papers will be provided.

There are a maximum of 15 places available on each session, so early booking is essential.

Cancellations / Refunds

Once you have made your course booking your are committed to it. This is because our courses have very small student numbers, and often sell-out and are unavailable to others. Therefore any cancellations may result in a place not being filled, or a course not being able to run.

Cancellations are permitted up to 30 days before the start of a course, and a full refund will be issued. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 30 days before the start of a course. If you are unable to attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments you do not have the right to a refund.

If you wish to cancel your place on a course that has not yet started and you have a friend or colleague who can take your place we can accommodate this substitution.
