Photography in Nature Workshop
Come join us for a hands-on and informative Photography in Nature Workshop on Monday 22nd September from 9:30-3:30pm at Shining Cliff hostel in the heart of an ancient woodland, Shining Cliff Woods.
Learn how to capture the beauty of nature through your lens with hands-on guidance from experienced photographer, Roger Morgan. Whether you're a beginner or have dabbled before, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to improve their nature photography skills. Don't miss out on this opportunity to explore the great outdoors and enhance your photography talents!
Roger is an experienced photography tutor who loves spending time in Shining Cliff woods. You can have a look at his online folios at rogermorgan.crevado.com and rogermorgan580.crevado.com
· Workshop outline: The workshop will start at Shining Cliff hostel with an exploration of how a camera works in manual mode, using some old cameras to get hands-on and look inside them. We will then go outside into the beautiful ancient Shining Cliff woodland for a practice exercise, before heading back to the hostel for a question-and-answer session with a cuppa.
· After lunch we will head outside into the woods again to find interesting objects to have a go at photographing in a studio environment. The skills of lighting and composition will be explored and then finish with some specialist techniques, for example, using a tripod.
· Location: Please note the hostel is located off-road in Shining Cliff woodland, near Ambergate in Derbyshire and can only be accessed by foot. If arriving by car, you can park in the hostel car park and then follow the woodland footpath for half a mile to the hostel. If arriving by public transport, Ambergate has bus stops and a train station, it is then approximately a 40-minute walk along woodland footpaths to reach the hostel.
· What to bring: Bring a camera if you have one...if not we can provide on for you. Please bring your own lunch, it’s possible to heat food in the hostel kitchen. The woodland terrain is uneven and can be muddy or slippery, please ensure you are wearing suitable footwear. As the pace will be slow when in the woodland, please ensure you have plenty of layers to stay warm, cosy and dry. Please bring a pair of indoor shoes to wear inside the hostel, as the floor can feel cold underfoot.
· Optional accommodation: You are welcome to add an overnight stay at Shining Cliff hostel on Sunday 21st September. The hostel is fully heated, has 3 bathrooms with showers, an open plan lounge and dining area and a well-equipped self-catering kitchen. Select ‘yes’ to overnight accommodation on the booking form and Kate at the hostel will get in touch with payment and booking details.
· Directions: Your booking confirmation will include directions on how to find Shining Cliff hostel. Please do follow the directions as satnav will take you to the wrong end of the woods, up a no-through road with no turning space at the end!
PLEASE NOTE:
- The workshop is being run at a deliberately low cost to make it more accessible to as many people as possible. If you would like to pay directly, rather than through Eventbrite then please email us at info@woodlandconnections.org
- It is possible for an adult to attend with ONE child at an additional cost of £15 for the child. We are not setting a minimum age but please consider if the child will be able to concentrate and learn from the workshop for that duration.
