Photography, wellbeing and the environmental crisis-a discussion

Join us for a discussion on how images of the environment affect us.

We will be exploring ways photographers have presented these issues and how this can help you in your own image making. There will be presentations on:

Familiar images we see in the media and how these are constructed

Images of an environmentally positive future

What methods, or ways of seeing can photographers and artists use to engage people to look to a positive environmental future?

Who is the workshop run by?

Vanessa Miles is a photographer who has been involved in the environmental movement for many years. She is also founder of Well Image CIC which supports mental health through the practice of photography. Through this workshop Vanessa will be presenting a series of images and leading a discussion - encouraging participants to offer their thoughts on the environment and how photography can shape how we see the world.

Vanessa has had her images published extensively on a range of environmental issues in the national press. She has worked for Greenpeace and The Woodland Trust. She set up the UK's first independent picture library specialising in environmental images supplying the UK national press back in 1989. She now runs a social enterprise using photography as a catalyst to enhance wellbeing. Well Image CIC.
